The Township of Harrington is a municipality with bilingual status. This status is granted to municipalities where more than 50% of citizens have English as their mother tongue. It allows the municipality to serve and communicate with citizens in both English and French.


According to Section 20.1 of the Charte de la langue française, administrative bodies are required to publish, within three months following the end of their fiscal year, the number of positions within their organization for which knowledge or a specific level of knowledge of a language other than the official language is required, notably for recruitment, hiring, transfers, promotions, or retention, as well as the number of positions for which such knowledge or level of knowledge is considered desirable.
